Lake Manyara National Park

A beautiful and diverse wildlife destination in northern Tanzania, located at the foot of the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment. Although relatively small compared with some of Tanzania’s larger parks, Lake Manyara offers an impressive variety of landscapes, from lush groundwater forests and open grasslands to wetlands, woodland, and the seasonal waters of Lake Manyara itself. The park is particularly famous for its large elephant herds and tree-climbing lions, which are sometimes spotted resting on the branches of acacia and other trees. The towering Rift Valley escarpment provides a dramatic backdrop, while the forested areas create a completely different atmosphere from the open plains found in other northern Tanzania safari destinations.
